Enjoy a true heritage flavour with Laxton’s Superb, a classic English dessert apple known for its sweet, aromatic taste and crisp, juicy texture. With its attractive red-flushed skin and creamy-white flesh, it’s a popular choice for fresh eating and makes a charming addition to any garden. Fruit is ready to harvest in mid to late autumn and stores well, often improving in flavour over time. Laxton’s Superb is partially self-fertile (pollination group 4), but planting with a compatible partner will increase yields. Easy to grow and reliable, it’s perfect for both beginners and experienced orchard keepers. Plant alongside James Grieve or Cox’s Orange Pippin to extend your apple harvest and enhance pollination.

Supplied as strong bare root trees grafted on a MM106 rootstock, this produces a tree of moderate vigour suitable for most situations where fruit is of a nice pickable height. Trees are easily maintained at a manageable size and never reach more than around 12ft tall.

The primary intended use of this plant is to grow food for human consumption.

There are thousands of different plant species that can be consumed, and our extensive range is no exception. We have conveniently listed a large number of edible plants here. Additionally, we have compiled several articles and handy recipes for some of the plants you are less likely to find in supermarkets.

We always recommend conducting your own research before consuming any plant to understand the various ways different varieties can be prepared and consumed. Be mindful of potential allergies when trying anything new and ensure it is suitable for all who may be consuming it.

Some plants or varieties can also be cultivated as animal feed for livestock, such as poultry, game, and livestock reared for consumption. Again, we advise doing your own research to select the most appropriate plants for your livestock.
