Acer palmatum atropurpureum - Purple Japanese Maple
Availability: In stock
Acer palmatum 'Atropurpureum' is a timeless and elegant Japanese maple, cherished for its deeply lobed, palmate leaves that emerge rich purple-red in spring and hold their colour through summer. In autumn, the foliage intensifies into fiery shades of crimson and scarlet, creating a spectacular seasonal display before falling. Its graceful, branching habit and compact size make it ideal as a specimen tree or focal point in smaller gardens and containers.
Slow-growing and naturally shapely, this deciduous tree thrives in moist, well-drained, slightly acidic soil and prefers a sheltered position in partial shade to prevent leaf scorch. It is perfect for Japanese-style gardens, woodland borders, or adding texture and contrast to mixed planting schemes.
Low-maintenance and undemanding, Acer 'Atropurpureum' requires little pruning, simply remove any dead or crossing branches in winter.
Supplied in approx. 4-5 Litre containers.
